About me
Pierce Paynter
Freelance web developer · Perth, WA
I’m based in Perth and build custom websites and web apps for businesses across Australia — from brochure sites and landing pages to tools that need to do real work behind the scenes.
No account managers or handoffs. You deal with me directly, get straight answers on scope and cost, and own the source code when the project is done — with the live site hosted and cared for by me.
Process
How I work
Every project starts with a written scope and a clear technical approach — then staged previews, content integration, and performance checks before launch.
Every build is proper, custom code — no CMS you did not ask for, no third-party licences. You own the source code; the live site stays on my hosting as part of the monthly plan.
What I need from you
- Goals, audience, and any brand constraints (even rough notes are fine).
- Content sources: existing copy, logos, and imagery you can license.
- A decision-maker available for weekly check-ins on active builds.
What you get at handover
- Full source code and repository access — you own the code.
- The live site hosted on my infrastructure — required monthly to keep it running.
- A walkthrough of how the site works and how to request updates (these are custom builds, not a self-serve CMS).
- Agreed warranty window on defects, separate from new feature requests.
- Optional site-changes add-on for ongoing edits, or quoted work for larger post-launch development.
Typical timeline
- Discovery — scope, sitemap, and technical approach agreed in writing.
- Build — staged previews, content integration, and performance checks.
- Launch & handover — go-live support, documentation, and training if needed.
Typical engagements
- Focused web applications and interactive tools — scoped honestly when you need more than a static brochure.
- Brochure-style websites and landing pages, mobile-first.
- Refactors, performance, and maintainability.
- Forms, enquiries, and light integrations.
